Antique Exhibition – Old treasures that make you smile and think
If you think old tools and farm items are just dusty relics of the past, think again! Antique Exhibition at Kallaste Turismitalu is full of surprises, nostalgia, and a little confusion — for example, when you discover some strange iron contraption and wonder, “Was this really for a horse… or something else?”
Everything you see here has been collected by the farm host Kalmer himself — no random rummaging through junk, but years of passion rescuing hundreds of farm life items from being forgotten. Kalmer doesn’t just collect antiques — he collects memories, moods, and that genuine feeling of “things were greener back then.”
There’s everything here — Zaporožets cars, hand mills, scythes, threshing machines, hay rakes, wash rollers, seeders, and other household tools, alongside which modern smart seeders look like something out of a sci-fi movie. Even Kalmer sometimes can’t fully explain the exact purpose of some items — and that’s what makes it exciting!
Antique Exhibition isn’t large, but it’s packed with stories, laughter, and exclamations like “Wow, my grandmother had exactly this!” It’s a place where old scythes and washing machines get more attention than modern kitchen gadgets, and where the past comes to visit not only to be seen but to be felt.
Step inside, be amazed, remember, and think how good it is that today we don’t have to ride to town in a horse-drawn carriage — though after visiting this museum, that idea might just seem surprisingly romantic.
