Sauna Heino
Heino is the newest building in Kallaste Turismitalu resort. It has a large vestibule and big sauna room – so Heino is perfect for bigger groups as well. There is a fridge to keep your drinks cool – we also offer some really cool local drinks and craft beer / cider. There is a river to keep yourself cool and the views from the high river bank are amazing!
Finnish sauna:
The main sauna room has a traditional wooden heater, so the warmth and the smell are genuine. There is a small window where you can keep an eye on the forest – if you are really lucky you might see some forest animals as well… The room fits more than 10 people. The heating up process is 3 – 4 hours.
Steam sauna:
This is a bit smaller room with natural stone plate. Steam room fits maximum 5 people at once. The temperatures are bit lower, so this is good for people who do not enjoy heat so much. Steam is also really nice for the skin.
Sauna tradition in Estonia
There is no way you can return home without having tried the great ol’ Estonian sauna. This 800-year-old custom is as refreshing and invigorating as ever and best enjoyed in a good company, surrounded by nature.
While UNESCO-listed smokesauna experience is the most Estonian you can go, we also ‘heat up’ a pretty descent Finnish sauna. There’s nothing better after a long day in the nature than to cover yourself in honey and experience the perhaps a new term in your vocabulary called ‘whisking’, also known as ‘a gentle beating’.
In contrary to the perhaps alarming description, ‘whisking’ is a healthy exfoliation with birch twigs and an integral part of the authentic Estonian tradition. The many sauna benefits include stress relief and weight loss. Estonians simply love this hot room, and you are bound to find one sizzling in almost every summer cottage, spa and country lodge.
